Hi, I’m Dana
Former Dancer, turned Pilates Instructor and ELDOA Trainer
Moving my body has been a passion of mine since a very young age. I started dance classes at the age of 5 to improve my posture and hip alignment, and have never stopped.
I fell in love with the idea of moving my body to express myself.
I performed as a young girl and danced competitively throughout high school. Although I enjoyed this time, it was very intense on my body. There wasn’t an emphasis placed on injury prevention. At age 12, I fractured a vertebrae in my low spine, but managed to recover and continue performing throughout college and as a professional in my 20s.
During my performance career, I decided to teach dance as a way to earn additional income. I enjoyed performing, but fell in love with teaching dance and sharing my knowledge of this art form with others.
With the demands of teaching, I quickly realized that I needed to train my body differently. This is when I discovered the Pilates world. I was excited to work my body in a controlled & well-balanced way. Practicing Pilates regularly helped me to alleviate all of those aches and pains I had experienced as a dancer throughout my career.
However, things took a turn for the worse in 2015.
Without realizing it, my posture and body changed significantly with the demands of teaching and being a new mom.
Although I was able to maintain my body over the years with Pilates, I was faced with severe back & neck pain in 2015.
I realized at that time that chronic pain was impacting my physical and mental well-being.
Ultimately, I had neck surgery in 2016 to avoid nerve damage and alleviate my pain.
And even though the surgery was a success, the residual effects were extremely debilitating. After many doctor visits, several rounds of physical therapy and medication, the pain persisted.
As traditional forms of medical practices were not helping, my doctor introduced me to a massage therapist to receive regular treatment.
I was skeptical but desperate, so I began working with this therapist who introduced me to the ELDOA Method.
Within three weeks of practicing ELDOA for 5 minutes each day, my chronic pain was gone!
I was shocked!
I immediately started researching the principles of ELDOA to better understand the drastic and life-changing improvements that were happening!
I needed to bring this new found method to my clients.
I began taking several courses over a two year period, and adding ELDOA to my daily workout program.
In October 2020,
I was proud to become an official ELDOA Trainer!
Now as I continue my work as a Pilates Trainer, ELDOA has become a crucial part of the support
I provide to my clients.
What exactly are the differences between the two and their correlation?
Pilates
Pilates is a method of exercise created by Joseph Pilates that promotes core strength and stability, muscle control, stamina, and includes exercises that stress proper posture, body alignment and balanced strength and flexibility.
Pilates is based on the principles of breath, concentration, centering, control, precision and flow.
Exercises involve the whole body and are performed on spring-assisted apparatus or a mat, often utilizing small equipment. It can be done at basic, intermediate and advanced levels and modified to fit an individual’s goals.
Through the years, the Pilates method has evolved. The equipment has been modernized and adjusted to be used both in the studio and in the home. Pilates’ principles and core method continue to be taught to millions of people throughout the world. The numbers continue to grow due to the effectiveness and adaptability for all.
The method can be helpful for sports training, physical rehabilitation or done daily as part of a wellness program.
Pilates transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs.
The method was developed by Joseph Pilates, born in Germany in 1883. He began developing his fitness technique, originally called Contrology, in the early 1900s.
Joseph Pilates and his wife Clara, emigrated to the United States in the early 1920s and together they developed, refined and taught the method in New York City over the course of their lifetime.
Many people began studying with Pilates at this time and training to learn about the method.
Through his students and writings called “Your Health” and “Return to Live through Contrology,” Pilates’ method was passed on after his death at the age of 83. It was only after his death that his method became known as Pilates.

Benefits of Pilates:
- Develop stronger core muscles
- Create long, strong muscles
- Increase flexibility
- Integrate the body and mind
- Increase mobility
- Decrease chronic and acute pain
- Rehabilitate after surgery
- Improve physical coordination and balance
“Change happens through movement and movement heals.” Joseph Pilates

ELDOA
ELDOA is an exercise method that creates space within a precise joint and at every level of the spine to improve posture and alleviate back pain.
Each ELDOA is held using intense muscle contraction and myofascial tension (tension in the fascia), which allows the body to correct and sustain better posture.
The ELDOA can affect the tissue, ligaments, nervous tissues, and organs associated with that joint or spinal segment. There are ELDOAs for the spine, shoulders, hips, ribs, and skull.
The wear and tear on the spine from poor posture and injuries can lead to chronic discomfort. Incorporating ELDOA just a few minutes each day will help you revert the misalignment and keep your body strong and balanced at any age.
ELDOAs are one of the best tools to have if you want to avoid surgery.
The exercises are a highly effective solution to issues of compression that cause pain, arthritis and neurological conditions.
Everyone can benefit from ELDOA.
ELDOA is appropriate for children and adults and is the perfect addition to enhance any workout. It can be done for general wellness and fitness, athletes, and is a must for people with chronic neck and back pain.
The ELDOA method was developed by French Osteopath Guy VOYER in the 1970s because he wanted to cure back pain.
It was through the study of tensegrity biomechanics and many methods that Dr. VOYER selected what he felt was the best of all the techniques to organize into a system he named ELDOA. The French acronym translates into Longitudinal Osteo-articular Decoaptation Stretching.
Following the North American ELDOA Conference in 2013, Dr. VOYER reorganized the method into a stand-alone, six-level certification program giving practitioners time to master all that ELDOA entails.
ELDOA is becoming more and more well known, enhancing workout programs of some of the finest professional sports teams in the United States such as The LA Dodgers & the Tampa Bay Rays among others.

Benefits of ELDOA:
- Relief of chronic and acute back pain
- Relief of neck and shoulder tension
- Build muscle tone
- Reduce joint inflammation
- Increase blood flow
- Normalize visceral function
- Improve athletic performance
- Reduce pressure on the spinal discs & increase disc hydration
“You are your own best therapist.” Guy VOYER
